Percentage Aggregation Functions by Extending SQL
نویسندگان
چکیده
Current SQL aggregation functions have evident limitations for computing percentages, for which this paper proposes two SQL aggregation functions. The two novel aggregation functions are easy to use, which have wide applicability and can be efficiently evaluated. They may be used as a framework to study percentage queries and to generate efficient SQL code. Experiments compare our proposed percentage aggregations against queries using OLAP aggregations. The results show that both proposed aggregations are significantly faster than existing OLAP aggregate functions.

Optimization of Percentage Cube Queries
OLAP cubes are a powerful database technology to join tables and aggregate data to discover interesting trends. However, OLAP cubes exhibit limitations to uncover fractional relationships on a measure aggregated at multiple granularity levels. One prominent example is the percentage, an intuitive probablistic metric, used in practically every analytic application. With such motivation in mind, ...

The SQL:2003 standard introduced window functions to enhance the analytical processing capabilities of SQL. The key concept of window functions is to sort the input relation and to ordering does not exist, though, and hence expensive join-based solutions are required. In this paper we introduce y-constrained multi-dimensional aggregation (y-MDA), which supports multi-dimensional OLAP queries wi...
متن کاملBridging Two Worlds with RICE Integrating R into the SAP In-Memory Computing Engine
The growing need to use large amounts of data as the basis for sophisticated business analysis conflicts with the current capabilities of statistical software systems as well as the functions provided by most modern databases. We developed two novel approaches towards a solution for this basic conflict, based on the widely-used statistical software package R and the SAP In-Memory Computing Engi...

Super- and sub-additive transformations of aggregation functions have been recently introduced by Greco, Mesiar, Rindone and v{S}ipeky [The superadditive and the subadditive transformations of integrals and aggregation functions, {it Fuzzy Sets and Systems} {bf 291} (2016), 40--53]. In this article we give a survey of the recent development regarding the existence of aggregation functions with ...
متن کاملGeneric multiset programming with discrimination-based joins and symbolic Cartesian products
This paper presents GMP, a library for generic, SQL-style programming with multisets. It generalizes the querying core of SQL in a number of ways: Multisets may contain elements of arbitrary first-order data types, including references (pointers), recursive data types and nested multisets; it contains an expressive embedded domain-specific language for specifying user-definable equivalence and ...
